Motivated by my appreciation for Wellcome’s purpose in improving health by helping great ideas thrive, I would like to express my interest for the UI Designer position. I am a User Interface Designer and Front-End Developer with over 5 years experience working on user interfaces for small startups as well as large corporations. After teaching myself these skills and having put them into practice both as an in-house as well as self-employed designer I was accepted into Goldsmiths, University of London’s MA Design: Expanded Practice programme where I graduated in December with a distinction.
I have extensive experience with responsive design and mobile-first principles and as a coder with strong HTML and CSS skills, I understand how mockups should be designed in order to be fully responsive. Being attentive to detail, highly organised, efficient, and always willing to expand my skill set and learn new design tools and methods, I am comfortable working in multidisciplinary teams as well as individually. I am confident in developing and maintaining design systems as well as working with a focus on human-centred principles. I would be excited to be part of your team and use my skills for an organisation like Wellcome Trust that aims to lead significant change in responding to some of today’s biggest health challenges. Finally, in exploring Wellcome’s current website I have been considering ways that I could implement low-tech design principles—a practice I have recently started incorporating in my work—to minimise the website’s environmental footprint, which I hope to discuss with you.
I would appreciate your consideration as I believe that my skills, previous experience, and willingness to support Wellcome's mission make me an ideal match for this position. I look forward to the opportunity to discuss more about this at your earliest convenience.
